How some communities are addressing affordable housing

Sept 2019—Lots of cities are facing a workforce housing problem, as well as housing for the homeless. Sprawl tends to lead to segregation and long commutes. No one has a perfect solution but here are some of the solutions being tried:

Minneapolis has changed zoning to eliminate new single family homes and United Renters for Justice is buying properties from slumlords and turning them into tenant-owned cooperatives

Oregon is on the cusp of changing zoning to allow duplexes and four-plexes on lots zoned for single family homes.
