Certified Sustainable Business: Snap Fitness West Sedona

May 2019—Snap Fitness – West Sedona has advanced to Innovator/Silver Sustainable Business Certification

Alex Filsinger, Club Manager at Snap Fitness-West Sedona, wants both you and the planet to be healthy. With help from Sustainability Manager and Regional Executive Coordinator Caroline Horning, and strong backing from Club Owners Steele Sacks and Craig Eagle, the club recently recertified with the Sustainability Alliance at the Innovator/Silver level of Business Certification, moving up from Conservationist/Bronze. Snap was already doing the following sustainability practices:

·       To conserve water, the club gives one towel to each member and asks them to wash it at home with their gym clothes. A water filling station encourages members to bring their own container and avoids single-use plastic bottles.

·       All cleaning products are non-toxic.

·       Gym equipment is serviced and repaired regularly; when a bench wears out, they reupholster it rather than throwing it away. End-of-life equipment is donated.

·       Announcements are displayed on in-house video monitors to reduce paper. These monitors are also used for a wide range of health and sustainability tips.

To earn Innovator/Silver certification, they signed up for 100% green power through APS’s Green Choice program and they are getting involved with trail maintenance efforts, a volunteer effort that makes sense with their fitness mission.
